As soon as the smell of winter is in the air, Welcome Air starts flying to the ultimate winter sports destination: Austria. On Saturday there is a non-stop flight from Niederrhein to Innsbruck.

On 22 May 2000, a yellow-purple Dornier 328 plane took off for its first scheduled flight from Innsbruck to Graz. Since then, Welcome Air has connected the Austrian cities of Innsbruck and Graz twice every day. At the same time, Welcome Air expanded its number of destinations along the European North-South axis. During the winter season 2009/2010, Welcome Air will offer a weekly flight (on Saturday) from Niederrhein-Weeze, the German airport near Dusseldorf, to Innsbruck.

Welcome Air has a fleet of Dornier 328 jets and Dornier 328 turboprops that are known as the Mercedes of the air because of the comfort they provide on board. The cheerful yellow-purple aircraft of Welcome Air and the friendly cabin attendants are a first taste of the cosiness that Austria is known for. No region in the Alps has more ski areas, lifts and winter sports activities than Tirol. Because Welcome Air and winter sports are two sides of the same coin, every passenger can take along one pair of skis or one snowboard free of charge, as long as the total amount of check-in luggage is within 20 kg.
